Albert Jeremiah Beveridge was an American historian and United States Senator from Indiana. A leading member of the Republican Party, he was intellectually one of the most prominent imperialists and Progressive Era leaders in the nation. He was renowned for his powerful oratory, most famously in his speech 'The March of the Flag,' which advocated for American expansion. Beveridge's later career was dedicated to writing his extensive four-volume biography of Abraham Lincoln, which remained unfinished at his death.
