Amos Alonzo Stagg was a pioneering American athlete and college coach in multiple sports, but primarily football. Known as the 'Grand Old Man' of college football, he was a key innovator who introduced foundational elements like the huddle, the forward pass, and the tackling dummy. His remarkably long career spanned 70 years, during which he coached at several institutions, most notably the University of Chicago. Stagg's immense contributions to the game earned him a charter membership in the College Football Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach.
