Andrew Marvell

Poet

Andrew Marvell was a distinguished English Metaphysical poet, satirist, and politician whose work spanned the Interregnum and Restoration periods. He is best known for his lyrical poems, including 'To His Coy Mistress,' which masterfully blends passion with intellectual wit. Marvell served as a Member of Parliament for Kingston upon Hull and was a colleague and friend of John Milton. His political satires were influential, but much of his finest poetry was not published until three years after his death.
