Arthur Hiller was an acclaimed Canadian-American film director whose career spanned over five decades. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, he began his career in television before transitioning to film in the late 1950s. He is best known for directing the immensely popular and critically acclaimed 1970 film "Love Story," for which he received an Academy Award nomination. Throughout his distinguished career, he also served as president of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2002.
