Arthur Hiller

“When you have a cause that is not only close to your heart but is something that you are personally involved in, it is a very different experience.”

“The simple truth is that I am a storyteller.”

“I don't think you can ever be a trust-fund kid and be a director.”

“I never thought of myself as a comedic director, or a dramatic director. I just wanted to tell good stories.”

“There's a great responsibility that comes with being a director. You're responsible for a lot of people's money and a lot of people's time.”

“Every film is a challenge. Every film has its own problems.”

“Even in the craziness of the world, there's still a lot of good. You just have to be able to see it.”

“I just try to tell a story and entertain people.”

“The main thing is to have a story to tell, and to know how you want to tell it.”

“You have to believe in your material.”
