William Patrick Corgan is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and professional wrestling promoter, widely known as the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins. He formed the band in Chicago in 1988, and it quickly became one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s. Corgan is recognized for his distinctive, nasal singing voice and his layered, complex guitar work which defined the alternative rock sound. Beyond his iconic music career, he has also been heavily involved in professional wrestling, including owning the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
