Byron Raymond 'Whizzer' White was an American jurist and professional football player who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1962 to 1993. Born and raised in Colorado, he excelled in academics and athletics, earning All-American honors in football at the University of Colorado. After a successful career in the NFL and serving in World War II, he graduated from Yale Law School and worked as Deputy Attorney General for the Kennedy administration. Appointed by President John F. Kennedy, White was known for his pragmatic and often unpredictable judicial philosophy during his 31-year tenure on the nation's highest court.
