Chester Burton 'Chet' Atkins was an American musician, occasional vocalist, songwriter, and record producer who created the smoother Nashville sound. His distinctive picking style, inspired by Merle Travis and Django Reinhardt, brought him admirers both within and outside the country music scene. Atkins produced records for The Browns, Porter Wagoner, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, and many others. He is an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Musicians Hall of Fame.
