David Low

Cartoonist

Sir David Alexander Cecil Low was a highly influential New Zealand-born political cartoonist and caricaturist who lived and worked in the United Kingdom. He is best known for his work in the London Evening Standard, where he created the character Colonel Blimp and satirized the rise of fascism in the 1930s. His sharp, incisive style and strong anti-appeasement stance made him a powerful voice in British political commentary before and during World War II. Low's work earned him international acclaim and a knighthood in 1962, cementing his legacy as one of the 20th century's greatest cartoonists.
