David Walker

Abolitionist

David Walker was an influential African-American abolitionist, writer, and anti-slavery activist. He is best known for his seminal 1829 pamphlet, 'Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World,' which called for the immediate emancipation of slaves. The Appeal urged Black people to unite and actively resist slavery, arguing that violence was a justifiable means of achieving freedom. Although he died under mysterious circumstances shortly after its publication, his radical work profoundly impacted the abolitionist movement and inspired future civil rights leaders.
