Douglas Haig

Douglas Haig was a senior officer of the British Army. During the First World War, he commanded the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front from late 1915 until the end of the war. He was the commander during several of the war's most significant and costly battles, including the Somme and Passchendaele. His leadership and tactics remain a subject of intense debate and controversy among historians to this day.
