Fanny Kaplan was a Russian political revolutionary and member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party. She is best known for her attempt to assassinate Vladimir Lenin on August 30, 1918. After being arrested by the Cheka, she refused to name any accomplices and claimed full responsibility for the act. Kaplan was executed without a formal trial just four days later, becoming a notable figure in the early history of the Soviet Union.
