George John Tenet is an American intelligence official and academic who served as the Director of Central Intelligence for the United States Central Intelligence Agency. He held the position from July 1997 to July 2004, making him the second-longest-serving director in the agency's history. His tenure was marked by significant events, including the September 11 attacks and the lead-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. After leaving the CIA, Tenet published a memoir, 'At the Center of the Storm,' and has worked in the private sector and academia.
