Georges Bidault

Politician

Georges Bidault was a prominent French politician and a leading figure in the French Resistance during World War II. He served as Prime Minister of France on two occasions and held several other key ministerial positions, including Minister of Foreign Affairs. A co-founder of the Christian Democratic Mouvement Républicain Populaire (MRP), his political career was marked by his involvement in post-war reconstruction and early European integration efforts. However, his staunch opposition to Algerian independence later led him to break with Charles de Gaulle and participate in the right-wing Organisation Armée Secrète (OAS), forcing him into exile for several years.
