Born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and hearing after a bout of illness at the age of nineteen months. She is renowned for her accomplishments despite her disabilities, learning to communicate with the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan. Keller went on to graduate from Radcliffe College and became a world-famous speaker and author, campaigning for women's suffrage, labor rights, and world peace.
