Jessica Tandy was a celebrated British-American actress whose career spanned over six decades across stage, screen, and television. She originated the iconic role of Blanche DuBois in the first Broadway production of Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire, for which she won a Tony Award. Later in her career, she achieved widespread fame for her film roles, most notably winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Driving Miss Daisy in 1989. Her enduring partnership with her husband, Hume Cronyn, both on and off the stage, made them one of the most respected couples in American theatre.
