Mary Jodi Rell is an American Republican politician who served as the 87th Governor of Connecticut from 2004 to 2011. She began her political career in the Connecticut House of Representatives, where she served for a decade before being elected Lieutenant Governor in 1994. Rell ascended to the governorship following the resignation of Governor John G. Rowland and was subsequently elected to a full term in 2006. During her tenure, she was known for her focus on fiscal responsibility, ethics reform, and maintaining high public approval ratings.
