John Bigelow

John Bigelow was an influential American lawyer, diplomat, and author during the 19th and early 20th centuries. He served as the United States Minister to France from 1865 to 1866, playing a crucial role in foreign policy during the American Civil War. Bigelow was also a co-owner and editor of the New York Evening Post, where he advocated for free trade and other political reforms. In his later years, he became a prominent figure in New York society and was instrumental in the establishment of the New York Public Library.
