John Dillinger was a notorious American gangster during the Great Depression. He led a group known as the "Dillinger Gang," which was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations. His exploits, which included daring prison escapes, captivated the American press and public during a time of widespread economic hardship. Dillinger's criminal career came to a violent end when he was shot and killed by FBI agents in Chicago in 1934.
