Nicholas II

Royalty

Nicholas II was the last Emperor of Russia, reigning from 1 November 1894 until his abdication on 15 March 1917. His reign saw the fall of the Russian Empire from a great power to economic and military collapse. Known for his gentle nature and devotion to his family, he was ill-suited for the autocratic rule his position demanded during a time of immense social and political upheaval. He and his entire family were executed by Bolshevik revolutionaries in 1918, a tragic end that led to their canonization as passion bearers by the Russian Orthodox Church.
