Samuel Hahnemann

Physician

Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was a German physician best known for creating the pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine called homeopathy. Disenchanted with the common medical practices of his era, which he found irrational and harmful, he abandoned his practice to work as a writer and translator. Hahnemann formulated the principle of 'similia similibus curentur,' or 'like cures like,' which became the central tenet of his new system. His major work, 'Organon of the Healing Art,' outlined his philosophy and methods, which, despite lacking scientific validity, continue to influence alternative medicine today.
