Spencer Perceval

Politician

Spencer Perceval was a British statesman and lawyer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from October 1809 until his assassination in May 1812. He remains the only British prime minister to have been assassinated. Perceval's political career was defined by his staunchly conservative and evangelical Anglican views, influencing his opposition to Catholic emancipation. He led the nation during a critical period of the Napoleonic Wars and dealt with significant economic and social unrest at home.
