Thomas Brooks was a notable English Nonconformist Puritan preacher and author who lived during the 17th century. He studied at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and served as a chaplain in the English Civil War. After the war, he became the rector of St Margaret's, New Fish Street Hill, but was ejected for his nonconformist beliefs in 1662. Despite this, he continued to preach and is best remembered today for his extensive devotional writings, such as 'Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices.'
