Thomas Campbell Clark was a distinguished American jurist who served as the 39th United States Attorney General from 1945 to 1949. President Harry S. Truman later appointed him as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, where he served from 1949 to 1967. During his tenure on the Court, he was known for his pragmatic and often moderate jurisprudence, though he authored the majority opinion in the landmark case Mapp v. Ohio.
