William Godwin

William Godwin was a pioneering English journalist, political philosopher, and novelist. He is considered one of the first exponents of utilitarianism and a forerunner of anarchism. His most famous work, 'An Enquiry Concerning Political Justice', was a powerful critique of existing political institutions. Godwin's personal life was also notable, particularly his marriage to the early feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft.
