William Rose Benét was an American poet, writer, and editor who won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1942 for his book The Dust Which Is God. As the elder brother of Stephen Vincent Benét, he was a prominent figure in American literary circles during the first half of the 20th century. He was instrumental in founding and editing the Saturday Review of Literature, a major literary magazine. His work often explored themes of romance, history, and mythology with a traditional and formal style.
