William Warren Scranton was a prominent American Republican politician and diplomat. He served as the 38th Governor of Pennsylvania from 1963 to 1967, where he was known for his progressive policies. After his governorship, he served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations under President Gerald Ford. Scranton was also a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 1964, representing the moderate wing of the party.
