Earl Russell Browder was an American politician and the General Secretary of the Communist Party USA from 1934 to 1945. As a prominent figure in the American communist movement, he ran for President of the United States in 1936 and 1940. During World War II, he advocated for a policy of collaboration between communist and capitalist nations, a controversial stance known as Browderism. This position ultimately led to his expulsion from the party in 1946 after the war ended and Cold War tensions emerged.
