Edgar R. Fiedler was a prominent American economist known for his insightful and often humorous commentary on economic forecasting. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy from 1972 to 1975 under the Nixon and Ford administrations. After his government service, he became a vice president and economic counselor at The Conference Board, a business research organization. Fiedler is perhaps best remembered for his witty axioms, including the famous line, 'If you have to forecast, forecast often.'
