Albert Benjamin 'Happy' Chandler Sr. was a prominent American politician and sports executive from Kentucky. He served two non-consecutive terms as the Governor of Kentucky and also represented the state in the U.S. Senate. Beyond his political career, Chandler made a lasting impact as the second Commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1945 to 1951. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in breaking the color barrier by approving Jackie Robinson's contract to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
