Leon Czolgosz

Assassin

Leon Czolgosz was an American anarchist and former steelworker who assassinated U.S. President William McKinley in September 1901. Influenced by radical thinkers like Emma Goldman, Czolgosz believed that government was a tool of oppression against the working class. He shot McKinley twice at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, leading to the president's death eight days later. Czolgosz was swiftly tried, convicted, and executed by electric chair, stating he had performed his duty for the common people.
