Reynolds Price was a celebrated American author, poet, and scholar known for his profound explorations of Southern life and universal human themes. Born in Macon, North Carolina, he spent the majority of his career as the James B. Duke Professor of English at his alma mater, Duke University. His extensive body of work includes acclaimed novels such as 'A Long and Happy Life,' which won the William Faulkner Foundation Award, as well as essays, plays, and translations. Despite a battle with spinal cancer that left him a paraplegic, Price continued to write prolifically, examining themes of faith, family, and endurance until his death in 2011.
