Anthony "Tony" Lema was a charismatic American professional golfer who rose to prominence during the 1960s. Nicknamed "Champagne Tony" for his tradition of celebrating victories with champagne for the press, he won 12 times on the PGA Tour. His greatest achievement came in 1964 when he won his only major championship, The Open Championship at St Andrews. Lema's promising career was tragically cut short when he died in a plane crash at the age of 32.
