Stewart Johonnot Oliver Alsop was a prominent American newspaper columnist and political analyst. Together with his brother Joseph, he wrote the influential "Matter of Fact" column for the New York Herald Tribune for over a decade. He later became a contributing editor for The Saturday Evening Post and wrote a widely read column for Newsweek magazine. Alsop was highly regarded for his insightful commentary on national and international affairs, and his memoir "Stay of Execution" chronicled his experience with leukemia.
