Syd Barrett was an English singer, songwriter, and musician who co-founded the rock band Pink Floyd in 1965. As the band's original leader, he was its lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter, becoming one of the most influential figures in psychedelic rock. His innovative guitar work and often whimsical, surreal lyrics were a hallmark of the band's early sound. After leaving Pink Floyd in 1968 due to deteriorating mental health, he pursued a brief solo career before withdrawing from the music industry entirely.
